Grace Ayson
Art and Glass Studio
About
Welcome! Grace Ayson is a stained glass designer and artist. She works from her studio in the seaside town of Ramsgate in the UK, but her work has taken her all over the world. She carries out restoration of damaged stained glass and makes bespoke windows for architectural settings including churches, private homes, commercial buildings and interior spaces. She also undertakes work for other studios as a freelance glass painter on reproduction and restoration work.
Grace has extensive experience of traditional and modern techniques and materials gained from twenty years’ working as a stained glass conservator, including fifteen years at the highly regarded Canterbury Cathedral Studios, where she worked on the windows of historically important, listed, and ecclesiastical buildings. She has a deep respect for the craft, which is often overlooked, and is passionate about using and preserving the traditional skills and materials, combining them with modern techniques and ideas to give them new life. Her background as an artist allows her to combine traditional craft with striking modern draughtsmanship and a fresh approach.
Grace is a member of the BSMGP, ICON, Heritage Crafts, and the CGS. She is also an Artist Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Glass Painters, and a QEST Scholar. She has exhibited her work at galleries throughout the UK and has work in public and private collections.
