GRACE  AYSON

GLASS STUDIO

COMMISSIONS - COLLABORATIONS -  CONSERVATION

About

Welcome! I’m Grace, and I’m a stained glass designer and artist. I work from my studio by the sea in Ramsgate in the UK, but my work has taken me all over the world. I carry out restoration of damaged stained glass and make bespoke windows for architectural settings including churches, private homes and commercial buildings and interior spaces. I also undertake work for other studios as a freelance glass painter on reproduction and restoration work.

I have extensive experience of traditional and modern techniques and materials gained from fifteen years’ working as a stained glass conservator at the highly regarded Canterbury Cathedral Studios where I worked on the windows of historically important, listed, and ecclesiastical buildings. I have a deep respect for the craft, which is often overlooked, and I’m passionate about using and preserving the traditional skills and materials and combining them with modern techniques and ideas to give them new life. My background as an artist allows me to combine traditional craft with striking modern draughtsmanship and a fresh approach.

I am a member of the BSMGP, ICON, Heritage Crafts, and the CGS. I am also an Artist Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Glass Painters, and a QEST Scholar. I have exhibited my work at galleries throughout the UK and have work in public and private collections.
